The Netflix docuseries Amy Bradley is Missing has drawn renewed interest in the 27-year-old missing persons case, with countless theories about what may have happened to Amy
Amy Bradley’s brother is speaking out about what he thinks really happened to his sister Amy.
The recent Netflix docuseries, ‘Amy Bradley is Missing,’ has shed new light on the 27-year-old missing persons case. Amy vanished in 1998 while on a Royal Caribbean cruise with her family, and since then, there have been various accounts of unconfirmed sightings and countless theories on what happened to her.
Some believe she fell or jumped from the balcony of their cabin, while others are convinced she was the victim of sex trafficking and may still be alive. The renewed interest in Amy’s mysterious disappearance has been a blessing and a curse for the family, who have their own idea of what happened to their beloved daughter and sister.
Amy’s brother Brad appeared alongside their mother Iva during a segment on UK show, This Morning with hosts Emma Willis and Joel Dommett and shared what he believes actually happened in the early morning hours of March 24, 1998.
“Well, obviously, we don’t know where she is,” the 48-year-old said. Since the show came out, we’ve gotten thousands of tips, leads, and people sending prayers, love, and different ideas.” The internet has exploded with discourse over Amy’s whereabouts, with some casting doubt on the family’s accounts and others believing she either jumped or fell overboard.
He then shared the family’s theory, explaining, “We think what happened to Amy was that she was targeted. She was seen, taken and removed from the ship and we believe she was trafficked into some kind of sex trade situation.”
A few years after she went missing, a photo circulated of a young woman resembling Amy was found on a sex worker website, though it has never been confirmed to be her. The true crime doc features interviews with alleged witnesses who claim to have seen her in the years that followed.
“Back then, there were no cell phones, there was not a whole lot of internet going on, there was no social media. There was none of that,” Amy’s brother explained, with the hope that the documentary would help finally solve the case and bring Amy home, or at least provide the Bradley family with much-needed closure.
Brad, who was just 21 years old at the time of his sister’s disappearance, is adamant that Amy did not go overboard that day. He previously explained to the Daily Mail, “We don’t think she got anywhere near the rail. When we first got on the cruise, we’re up on the eighth story and I’m looking over the rail, kind of looking straight down, like ‘Man, check this out.’ She said, ‘Nope,'” he remembered, adding, “And she wouldn’t even get close to it.”
He went on to say, “Obviously, we need that one person who knows something to come forward and help us. Actually, I think there’s more than one person who knows, but we’re waiting on that one call that breaks this thing open.”
